# Connect Linear to a program

> Create or link Linear issues from reports and configure two-way activity synchronization.

The Linear integration connects a program's vulnerability reports to a Linear team. After configuration, you can create a Linear issue from a report or link an existing issue in the selected team.

## Configure the connection

1. Open the program's **Manage** page and find **Integrations → Linear**.
2. Expand **Configure Linear**. Add a Linear personal API key to connect a workspace, or select an existing workspace.
3. Select a **Team** and, optionally, a **Project**.
4. Set optional labels, title and description templates, and initial mappings in **Advanced settings**.
5. If you want Linear changes to sync back to Hackrate, create a Linear webhook for **Issue** and **Comment** events on the selected team. Copy the webhook URL shown in Hackrate into Linear, then enter its signing secret in Hackrate.
6. Select **Enable integration** and click **Save Linear configuration**.

The personal API key uses the permissions of the Linear user who created it. Hackrate stores the key encrypted. Limit that Linear account to the access your team needs.

## Choose what syncs

In **Advanced settings**, choose which comments, status changes, rewards, assignee changes, disclosure events, and attachments flow from Hackrate to Linear. You can also enable inbound comments, status, assignee, and priority changes from Linear. **Auto-resolve when Linear reaches** is optional.

The title and description templates support variables such as `{{report_id}}`, `{{report_title}}`, `{{severity}}`, and `{{report_link}}`. Initial mappings connect Hackrate severity, status, and assignee values to Linear fields.

## Link a report

Open a report's **Linear** card. Click **Create issue** to use the program templates, with optional title and description overrides. Click **Link existing** to attach a Linear issue from the configured team. The card shows the linked issue, its sync state, and **Retry** or **Unlink** actions when applicable.
